The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner and Quincy Troupe
Movie Credit: Columbia Pictures
Resource Type: Aspirational
Who this Book is Good For: Emerging Leaders, Experienced Leaders, Executives, Entrepreneurs
You may have seen the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith, but even if you did, reading the book is inspiring. With a story about possibilities, persistence, attitude, and desire, combined with a clear and consistent vision of what could be, you’ll be driven to look at the bumps along your road as small inconveniences to be worked through. In the pace of today’s work environment, it is easy to feel that we are constantly fighting fires and urgent (yet unimportant) tasks. With the perspective of what Christopher Gardner overcame, those realities will become less daunting and clearly unimportant.
This book (and movie as well) is one of the most inspiring stories I have ever heard. Throughout the story, Gardner’s belief in himself and his dedication to his son never waivers—truly a lesson and life goal.
Enjoy!
