Tips 4 Tuesday #1: Clarity of Purpose
Leadership without clarity is like running a marathon blindfolded: exhausting and aimless. But when you’re clear on your purpose, you lead with focus, energy, and impact. Ready to define yours? Let’s dive in:
Write down 10 values you hold dear — no overthinking. A "personal value" is a belief or principle that is important to you, guiding your decision-making and shaping your behavior, essentially representing what you consider to be most meaningful in your life. Some of mine are duty, service, community, and Faith. Now circle the four that define who you are at your core.
Tip #2: Take the Energy Audit
For one week, track how you spend your time and energy. Compare this to your priorities from step 1. Are your actions aligned or are distractions stealing your focus?
Tip #3: Write Your Purpose Statement
Sum up your focus in one sentence. Here’s one of mine as an example:
“I inspire others by aligning my strengths with meaningful work that builds community.”
Break your purpose into three parts:
• Personal: What makes you come alive?
• Professional: What drives you at work?
• Aspirational: What legacy do you want to leave?
Why It Matters:
Clarity of purpose doesn’t just help you, it energizes your team. A leader with purpose creates momentum and inspires others to follow.
Your Action This Week:
